REVOLUTIONIZING FLOORING:

Unveiling the Ultimate
Trendsetter of Today

Luxury vinyl planks have been super popular over the past few years. What sets them apart is their remarkable waterproof feature and ease of installation. Most companies enhance their durability by adding a 20 mil wear layer, making them exceptionally resistant to scratches and perfect for high traffic areas. Additionally, their affordability makes them an attractive choice.

I recently installed luxury vinyl planks in my basement, seeking their waterproof nature, easy installation, and cost-effectiveness. However, I do notice their thinness when walking on them, as my uneven concrete floor beneath becomes evident. The solution to that would be to level the floors which is very costly and it defeats the cost savings of getting vinyl plank.

To address this issue, some companies like Cortec offer a thicker vinyl plank with a cork board backing, providing a solution for uneven surfaces.

Luxury Vinyl Planks

Before the advent of vinyl plank, laminate flooring was all the rage. Similar to vinyl plank, it boasted easy installation, affordability, and remarkable durability. In fact, its solid core made it more robust than some vinyl plank options. However, laminate’s one downside was its lack of waterproofing. In response, some laminate companies have now introduced waterproof laminate to recapture the market lost to vinyl plank. But like vinyl plank, it still relies on computer-generated imagery.

Warped Laminate Flooring

Before delving into what I feel will be the next big trend, let’s talk about real hardwood flooring. In my opinion, nothing surpasses the elegance of genuine hardwood. Its aesthetic appeal is unparalleled. However, hardwood does have its drawbacks. It is not waterproof, and depending on the type selected, wood by nature is soft and with a softer core it is going to scratch. When you have a hard core and hard service material is a lot harder to scratch. Many clients who adore the look of wood opt for engineered wood, which consists of multiple layers interwoven to strengthen the core and minimize expansion and contraction. While engineered hardwood is an excellent choice for those seeking the hardwood look, it tends to be pricier both in terms of materials and installation. It’s crucial to note that even with a matte finish and precautions such as felt pads for furniture, wood is still susceptible to scratches, as I learned from my previous house. Nevertheless, the scratches were concealed to a great extent, and having a touch-up kit handy was helpful for any significant scratches.

Scratched Hardwood Flooring

I believe what will be the next hottest floor trend is – WATERPROOF WOOD FLOORING. (Make sure you check out the links below!) I intend to install these in my next house.

Waterproof Wood Flooring combines the best qualities while minimizing the downsides. These floors utilize thin layers of real wood veneer securely glued to a solid core. The result is the authentic appearance of hardwood with the durability of laminate. A protective wear layer ensures resistance to scratches, and being a floating floor, installation is a breeze. Moreover, it typically comes at a more affordable price compared to expensive hardwood.

Keep in mind that various companies offer their unique twists on flooring, each claiming theirs to be the best. We have already installed this floor in a couple of houses, and it is not only aesthetically pleasing but also built to last, with exceptional scratch resistance.
